''I identified myself as someone who aspired to see the development of sublime music from within myself and from society outside of me. I started learning music at the age of nine and started learning the sitar at the age of thirteen. As soon as I started learning sitar, I felt that in order for music to grow in me, I had to practice and learn music with sincere gratitude for music in order to get the inspiration of music into life. I felt that it should be a spiritual training that was free from selfishness. So during my school days, I organized a North Indian classical music concert 'Swaranjali 2004' in Panduwasnuwara National Collage for public audience and University lecturers performed classical Vocals and instruments in this classical music concert. This is the first sacrifice I have made in my life for the development of greatest music in the society. After this concert, I realized that if contributing to the development of a supreme music within myself and in the community I should follow a middle ground that should be balanced with each other. My feeling is that this is what I have done to this day.''
